ND Patch used for locking & sealing

Latest update : 2022.11.28

OVERVIEW

ND Patch is a pre-applied process which fuses a nylon thread-locking coating to internal or external threads of fasteners making them self-locking and self-sealing. The coating prevents screws and bolts from loosening, seizing, or performing poorly as they do not bind up in the threads. This also allows for quick assembly and disassembly of the fastener. There are two main methods of using ND Patch – one is to wrap the threads in the desired material before installing it by hand or with a special tool, while the other is to apply it after installation by machine. The benefits of using ND Patch include reduced time on assembly, increased speed in manufacturing, increased safety, and increased productivity.

HOW IT WORKS

The ND Patch is a pre-applied process which fuses a nylon thread-locking coating to internal or external threads of fasteners making them self-locking and self-sealing. It’s application helps to prevent non-threaded fasteners from loosening that make servicing difficult, expensive, or even impossible. The process inhibits lubrication of threaded fasteners which provides the sealing action via a friction coefficient much greater than that of other sealants. ND Patch is designed for use on metal, plastic, and composite threads including rubber gaskets and O-rings as well as steel and carbide parts including screws, bolts, nuts, washers, gears. Installation involves cleaning the surface to be sealed with detergent followed by primer and one coat of ND patch (enough to cover the surface area being applied). The coated threads are then threaded into place where they immediately adhere to their respective surfaces due to the adhesive effect of the ND patch
