A490 Tension Control Bolts

Grade A490 tension control bolts are heat-treated steel bolt-nut-washer assemblies. These heavy-duty bolts are used in steel-frame construction or high-strength applications. The head of these bolts is domed and is not driven. The end of the shank has a spline on it that holds the bolt steady while a power wrench fastens the nut. When the nut is tightened, the spline breaks off, showing that the bolt has been properly installed. These tension bolts come in a black oxide finish, which is corrosion resistant in dry environments.
